Millions of faithful American Christians attended Mass and worship services to receive ashes marking the beginning of Lent.
Hobbs marked the occasion with a post on X.

On this Ash Wednesday, many Arizonans begin a season of reflection, humility, and renewal. Lent invites us to grow through challenge and recommit ourselves to caring for our neighbors. May this season strengthen our dedication to service and to building stronger communities…

Despite attending Catholic schools in her youth, Hobbs ignored the main reason for Lent: the Passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. She referenced reflection and service, but not the central themes of the Lenten season.
Later, she posted a message to the Muhammadans:
As Ramadan begins, I extend my warmest wishes to all observing. May this holy month bring reflection, generosity, and community and may it bring peace and strength to you and your loved ones. Ramadan Mubarak.

Her statement on Lent could be delivered at an Arbor Day ceremony. By contrast, her Ramadan post used the term “Holy Month” and even included an overtly Muhammadan salutation, “Ramadan Mubarak” in closing. There was no equal expression of respect for Christians in Arizona.
Christian voters will remember this as the 2026 election cycle approaches and Hobbs seeks a second term as governor. We will be here to remind them.
